During Summer 2023, the Form Verification Identity Form (VIF) – came into use for those whom did not have a PPSN but needed one to be able to file on CORE and RBO.
Once verified, an Identified Person Numbers (IPNs) is issued which will be used for all future filing for that beneficial owner or director.
Due to the increasing rate at which Form VIFs are being returned due to being completed incorrectly, in January of this year, the CRO have updated the Form VIF with a new Form which clarifies the following requirements;
- The declarant's signature must be in wet ink
- Official ID documentation presented to the person (witness) taking the declaration must be shown to that person and details of the document produced must be noted in this form
- The name of the declarant and witness must be in type
- The Date of Birth format must be dd/mm/yyyy
- Ensure the name on the portal matches the name on the VIF
- Additional material is accepted but must be translated to English or Irish
The new Form VIF is available on CORE and should be used going forward.
The breakdown of the Form remains in the same format, Part A, Part B and Part C.
Part A of the VIF contains the first name, last name, date of birth, nationality, residential address of the beneficial owner, declarants email address and confirmation if they do/ do not have a PPSN (this part is completed by all applicants).
Part B of the form is to be completed where the declaration is made in the State and Part C is to be completed where the declaration is made outside the State. Where the declaration is being worn outside the State, it should be sworn before a Notary Public.(The applicants should only complete Part B OR C a common error here is them having both parts completed)
Once the VIF is completed in its entirety, Part A of the form, as detailed above, must be entered on the CORE Portal and the original VIF should be then uploaded as a PDF to the CORE portal as a new filing. If the details on the VIF do not match those details entered on the CORE Portal, the submission will be rejected.
Once the VIF is submitted and approved, the individual will be issued an IPN, which will be used for all future filings for that beneficial owner.
